The Lake Musconetcong Regional Planning Board was established as an advisory board on January 10, 1990. Its purpose is to recommend and implement programs to maintain and improve the quality of the Lake Musconetcong Watershed areas. The board reports to the municipalities of Byram, Netcong, Roxbury, Stanhope and the Counties of Sussex, Morris as well as the State of New Jersey. It consists of members from each town and the state. Meetings are held monthly. Visitors are most welcome.

There are many species of fish available year round in Lake Musconetcong. Chain pickerel large mouth bass pan fish catfish are some of the native species available to the fisherman. The lake is stocked with trout multiple times a year.
